Wrensonfarm2 reader’s growing some nice violets

TED from Canada’s Yukon territory sent in this super picture of some whopper violets he’s growing, pointing out – in a nice way – that they  are much bigger than the giant I posted earlier this year with the challenge: Can you top this?
Let's hear it for Ted's African Violet. He's way north of everyone - in Canada's Yukon!

Let's hear it for Ted's African Violet - grown way up north in Canada's Yukon!

I must say, his are spectacular – and I’ll give him this: Those explosions of flowers outdo mine, for sure.

In fact, they’re right up there with the prettiest I’ve ever seen.

Of course, Ted’s been pampering his beauty for 10 years. Mine is a just a baby still in its in diapers – about 2.

What do you think? Do you have a flower of your own to share, a tip for growing lovely houseplants, a question, a comment, and idea?

Jumbo African Violets: Secrets to Grow Them

huge violet taking over house

Huge violet's taking over my house

Alachua, FL – My name is sage and this is the biggest African violent I’ve ever seen.

Not to brag, but i grew it from a cutting.

The thing is, I’ve grown hundreds from cuttings.

And I grew them in the same spot in my house, using the same watering and feeding techniques.

But no other violet has grown to much more than half this size.

How about you? Do you grow violets this big?

If so, how do you manage it – and where do you grow them?

Be sure to give city, state and the part of your yard or home you devote to your violets. everybody who loves violets as much as we do is going to want to know your secrets. i’ll share mine, too. just ask!

Write to me by clicking my name, SAGE, and I’ll write back. comment, too, using the comment boxes on my blog.
